Last Day

My final day across the Atlantic. I'm going to spend it watching Karate Kid, playing with baby Freya, and hanging out with my cousin and aunt. Sounds like a good day right...or I could go on a pub crawl, climb to the top of Big Ben, pretend like I'm King Kong and then jump in the River Thames. Nah, I'll hang out with the family.

Well, I was about the load up some pictures but it seems the computer does not agree with my camera. So...maybe back in the America? That, I promise will happen.

Now that I think of it, this blog is almost finished! I mean, how much more can I write about Europe when I'm in America? How can you follow Cyrus when he clearly has no where interesting to go? Maybe I'll start another blog...Tell me what you think.

What did you like?
More importantly, what didn't you like?
What do you want more of?
What suggestions do you have?

Tell me anything. I take criticism well. E-mail or comment! (i_cyrus@yahoo.com)

The Last Day

So, unofficially, today is my last day travelling. I will be flying back to London tomorrow from Berlin. Then back to the states in a few more days! And let me tell you something, Berlin is pretty awesome. Here is a list of why:

1. It is legal to drink and walk on the street

List done.

Seriously though, Berlin has a unique vibe and good food prices (which really helps since we are almost out of money) Today we saw the Berlin wall. The sybolism outweighed the actual sight of seeing it but still a noteworthy site to see. We went on a "free" walking tour of Berlin today and saw some other sights and learned a little more history. Besides London, I am not sure any other city has a richer history than this Berlin.

Sean and I have been eating footlong sasuages and mini baguettes for only 1.20. Best deal in Europe. Our new favorite food called the Durum (like an Arabic burrito), is only 2.50! We were paying 3.90 in other parts. Lovin Berlin.

After all the traveling, unexpected twists (good and bad), I will be back to my starting point. Then...AMERICA. Probably will not see my home town through the same eyes again but only in a more positive light.

Pictures will be arriving shortly.

Munich/Berlin

It has been awhile my loyal followers (all 5 of you haha)

Sean and I are currently in Berlin at the St. Christophers Inn (aka Beluchis) It's a pretty cool place especially since they have...1 EURO JAGER SHOTS! If you know me, that is like heaven upon a bar.

Munich was probably my favorite city. Not because of the architecture or the nightlife. It was the atomosphere that got me. It felt better, just the vibe I guess, than the other cities we have been.

Overall though, Barcelona takes the cake. The city was awesome but the lifestlye was 2nd to none. We saw and experienced more than we could have asked for. Barcelona has a lot of night clubs but at 12 euros a drink, we passed. Sean and I aren't night club people any way. We like to be where the people are and, on Las Ramblas (Barcelona's central street), there were loads of people.

a lil creative writing: Jump up. Jump down. Look left. Look right. Right hand up. Left hand up. Left leg up. Now your standing on your right leg and you look ridiculous.

Berlin has been interesting so far. Lots of the punk rock, I'm angry with my parents, sort of vibe. Also, everytime I look at a person who is clearly over 70, I cannot help but think they were a Nazi. NOT FUNNY, but a little chuckle will do.

I have pictures but this computer will not let me load them (Carol Kinlock) SO for now its a :o) face and a thank you for reading my blog.

Also, I lost my wallet. Yay.

Sad n Happy: Happy hour ended an hour ago. Good thing we are friends with the bartender.

Barcelona

The city I was most looking forward to visiting lived up to its potential. Its a mix of different cities in one big drink: 2 parts of San Fran street performers, 1 part Manhattan hustle, 2 parts architectural genius, and a splash of Barcelona flavor.

We got in Thursday night around 11 pm, checked into our hostel and enjoyed the night life, crazy street performers, and waves of people from every corner of the globe.

Friday was filled with the Barcelona market place on Las Ramblas, a Tapas cooking/eating class, and a pub crawl. Two words: Great Success.

One more night in Barcelona but this one will be a little more relaxed. Take in the beaches, see the buildings, and enjoy the openess of this beautiful city.

Travelers Tip: Italians are terrible roommates. I still like their food though.

Off to Munich next...Adios, Oui and Excuzi

Back In The Dam

From Paris, where the women flock like the salmon of Capistrano, we took a train to Amsterdam. 4 hours later we arrived in the city of clouds (I don't know if they call it the city of clouds but I like it) After checking into our extremely awesome, no problems here, hostel (a little sarcasm) Sean and I met up with Johan! O Johan, you crazy Norweigan.

Sad N Happy Story: A baby took its first step! O, how magical it was. The twinkle in the parents eye gleamed with joy and admiration for their baby's feat on feet. Filled with happiness, the parents picked the child up to sky faster than a rocket to the moon and held it in their arms warm with compassion. Unfortunately, they picked the baby up too fast and it threw up on the parents brand new white carpet...Sad and Happy.

We leave for Madrid in the evening on Monday then are following it up with Barcelona. The city I am most excited to visit is Barcelona.

I still can't believe I'm only half way through my trip! More posts and pictures to come! And dare I say...a video of magnanimous proportions? Yes, I dare.

Traveling Tips: Don't let French people cut in line just because cant tell them to get lost. The fist shake is the international symbol for "get outta here youz" (Italian Accent)

The Journey Begins

Up till now, I've mostly been hanging with my cousin and her new baby daughter of 9 months. She's adorable and a baby of many faces. She has a mafia face (YUP), her stare through your soul face, confused face, and much more. She's a sweetheart.

BUT now Mr. Sean Kinlock has arrived and our journey begins. First we start it off in London today. We'll see where the Queen lives, Big Ben, Parliament, and all that jazz. Grab a brew at the pub, meet some British girls (hopefully with good teeth), and so on.

This morning we had tea and crumpets! The crumpets were actually really good. Its a cross between an English muffin and a bagel. We're going to start a crumpet sandwich shop called Crumpets n Stuff. Watch out America.

Wild Tangent: Worst people to sit next to on a plane: Two extremely overweight British people with a 2 year old toddler that cries. Think about it. Doesn't sound bad? Well guess what...they smell bad too. And the baby just pooped. Yep, terrible.

I know I'm lacking in photos but trust me they will be up soon.

LASTLY............................................

World Cup Championship = The Netherlands vs. Spain

Where will Cyrus and Sean be? Oh, we'll be in Amsterdam with Andy Chung and Patrick Collins....speechless. Many pictures to come...if I survive.

A little creative writing: A fish swims. Darts through the ocean like an arrow cutting through the wind. A shark appears from the abyss, floating into the path of the unsuspecting fish. At the last moment, the fish realizes its destined path will end in the jaws of hammerhead shark, who actually likes classical music, not hardcore music as some would expect. The hammerhead clamps his jaws shut, grinding the fish to chum. 10 minutes later the shark dies because it was a poisonous blow fish. Dumb shark, Darwin bitch.

Oxford - Great Success

(not sure how to make this a non-link...Don't click it!)
Oxford is an awesome campus. Too many tourist thought and, yesterday, I was one of them. I went with my cousin Jasmine and her family. She lives on the outskits of London. First we planned to tour center London (downtown) but we went on impluse and drove to Oxford, which truthfully was not far at all.

When we got into the city, it started off on a very funny note. A lady got upset because we were in the bike lane so she started yelling at us and my cousins husband, Nevil, rolled down the window and acted like a tourist. She kept yelling in a old granny English accent foaming at the mouth then said "Do you need any help?" To which he replied "Not from you!" and rolled up the window on her. CLASSIC, then she rode away and parking spot opened up infront of her....sooo he proceeded to speed past her, cut her off and park in the spot. Amazing start.

We saw some pretty cool sights in the city.

This is called punting. Its just like in Venice with the stick you push in the water...I did terrible.

This was a cool view we saw while punting. We were literally floating a few inches above the water. Very very relaxing and scenic.

The trip was a great experience. I learned a lot about the college, the history and everything surrounding the city. I recommend this as a half day trip to anyone in this area. Grab a brew, a tour guide, and a group of scholars and you will be set to have a great time in Oxford, an intellectual pool of awesome.

What could/should/probably will happen

My flight leaves in less than 24 hours and I’ll be gone from home for over a month. It hasn’t hit me yet. All this planning and time spent getting all the details, big and small, is all coming together. I guess I just don’t know what to expect.

Here is a list of a few things I expect to happen:

Seeing lots of different people and cultures

Being yelled at for being American

Going out almost every single night

Get lost multiple times

See castles (I LOVE CASTLES)

Drink copious amounts of beer and fine liquor

Eat an obscene amount of delicious food

Walk off all the food I eat

Urinate in an inappropriate area

Bastille Day in Paris

Truly EPIC weekends with Patrick Collins, Andy Chung, and Johan Gressburg

Randomly run into somebody I know

Fight a leprechaun

Go hyphy dumb in dance clubs

Girls, Women, Cougars and Sweedish chicks…

Unforgettable memories, lots of pictures, new friends and a new take on life

AND getting randomly searched at all airports

A little creative writing: A safe fell out a 3rd story window landing on top of a bus stop. A bus driver, on his normal route, was first to arrive on the scene. He got out to inspect the situation and gasped in disbelief. A little dog was trapped under the safe. Being an animal lover and portly, round gentleman, he lifted the safe with all his strength to free to dog. Unfortunately he dropped it and the dog died. If it makes you feel better the dog was a stray and the bus driver had terrible B.O.

Talk to you in Europe. Goodnight America

The Finally Countdown

It’s the final countdown...well not really in a “this is the end” final countdown sort of way. It is more of a “holy mother of god, finally this the moment has arrived” countdown. So, to clear up the confusion, I’ll call it the finally countdown.

So all this countdown talk must get you asking, “Well, what is this Cyrus fellow you are about to follow counting down to exactly?” Excellent question!

Today at work I saw a 6 foot 10 inch man and spoke to him. The whole situation made me laugh and by no way, shape, or form am I a racist, or hold judgment on any race but…he was asian! Ok, glad we got that tangent out of the way.

COUNTDOWN TO EUROPE! That’s what has almost finally arrived. Who’s departing July 1st, 2010? This guy.

London, Amsterdam, Paris, back to Amsterdam, Madrid, Barcelona, Munich, Berlin, back to London and then America in that order! 36 days, 35 nights carrying only what a backpack can hold and my friend Sean “Colt” Kinlock.

How excited am I you ask? So excited I started a blog. So excited I’m actually taking the time write about a trip that has not happened yet. So stoked that, until you read this blog post, I’m talking to myself about this trip. That’s how excited I am and guess what…you get to come along with me.

A little creative writing: Charged with an electric beat, his foot kicked the floor in a subtle, rhythmic motion. “Tap, tap, tap,” said the floor.

Thank you and good night!
